Halloween treats and more tips

Can you believe it? The holiday season is rapidly approaching, and one of the upcoming holidays is none other than Halloween! 🎃👻I must confess that Halloween wasn't a big celebration for me before I had my girls. Perhaps it's because I didn't grow up in the US. However, now that I have my precious little ones, Halloween has taken on a whole new significance in our family. To them, it's nearly as important as Christmas, and that's why I go all out to make this celebration truly special for them.

We begin our preparations well in advance, from selecting costumes to baking treats, creating signs, and adorning our home with spooky decorations.

Last year, to ensure everything went off without a hitch, I discovered the magic of having a Halloween planner, and it was incredibly helpful in organizing all the fun and frights.

I'd like to offer you this free Halloween Planner in the hopes that it's as useful for you as it has been for me.

Our favorite Halloween treat

These Witch's Hat Cookies are our absolute favorite treat! They're not only delicious but also incredibly easy to make, making them the perfect go-to when you're in a hurry. Enjoy the delightful combination of chocolate and shortbread in no time – it's a treat that never disappoints!

Witch's Hat Cookies

Ingredients:

24 chocolate-striped shortbread cookies (the ones with a chocolate coating on the bottom)

24 Hershey's Kisses (unwrapped)

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 teaspoon vegetable oil

1/4 cup orange, black, white, green or black sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions:

Prepare a Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat and set it aside.

Melt Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and vegetable oil. Microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring after each, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth. Alternatively, you can melt the chocolate using a double boiler on the stovetop.

Assemble the Witch's Hats:

Take a chocolate-striped shortbread cookie and turn it upside down, so the chocolate-coated side is facing up.

Place a Hershey's Kiss in the center of the chocolate-coated side of the cookie, pressing down slightly to make it stick.

Dip the bottom of the Hershey's Kiss into the melted chocolate, then press it back onto the cookie to secure it as the pointy hat of the witch.

While the chocolate is still soft, sprinkle orange, and white (or your favorite colors) sprinkles around the base of the Hershey's Kiss to create a decorative band.

Let the Cookies Set: Place the assembled Witch's Hat Cookies on the prepared baking sheet and allow them to set. You can speed up the setting process by placing them in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes.

Serve: Once the chocolate has hardened, your Witch's Hat Cookies are ready to serve!

Enjoy these spooky and delicious Halloween treats.

Money-saving tips for this Halloween season

Here are some money-saving tips that work for me:

Consider making your own costumes or repurposing items you already have to create unique and budget-friendly outfits. It's not only eco-friendly but also a fantastic way to get creative and save some extra cash for delicious Halloween treats.

When it comes to buying candies for trick-or-treaters: Shop for Halloween candies well ahead of time, taking advantage of early sales and discounts. Buying in bulk can also help you save, and it ensures you'll have plenty of treats to share with the little goblins and witches who come knocking on your door.

Additionally, consider adding non-food treats to your giveaway stash, like stickers, small toys, or glow sticks.

It's a great way to accommodate kids with allergies or dietary restrictions and adds an extra element of fun to your Halloween experience.

And display an allergy-friendly sign on your door.

Add fun to your Halloween evening

Scavenger hunts can add an incredible amount of fun to your Halloween celebrations. I can personally attest to this from last year's experience. My older daughter, who is now 13, had started to feel a bit bored with the traditional trick-or-treating routine. However, when I introduced a Halloween scavenger hunt, it completely transformed the evening. She had an absolute blast teaming up with her younger sister, and it created wonderful bonding moments for them.

If you grab my Halloween Game bundle you'll find an excellent resource to kickstart your Halloween scavenger hunt adventure. Alternatively, if you'd like to craft your own, I must admit, it can be a bit challenging to create engaging hunts from scratch. That's precisely why I've put together a comprehensive guide, available in my sister PLR Shop Cloudtifulbiz, to make the process easier for you using ChatGPT.
