For the Chocolate Cookies:
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
For the Decorations:
24 Hershey's Kisses (unwrapped)
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
Orange and white sprinkles ( or your favorite colors, for decoration)
Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the egg and vanilla extract, and continue to mix until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a smooth cookie dough forms.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Take small portions of the cookie dough and roll them into balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
Place the dough balls on the baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to make an indentation in the center of each cookie ball to create a well for the Hershey's Kiss.
Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until they're just starting to turn golden around the edges.
Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once the cookies are completely cooled, place a Hershey's Kiss in the center well of each cookie, pressing down slightly to secure it.
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and vegetable oil. Microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring after each, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
Dip the bottom of the Hershey's Kiss into the melted chocolate, then press it back onto the cookie to secure it as the pointy hat of the witch.
While the chocolate is still soft, sprinkle orange and white sprinkles around the base of the Hershey's Kiss to create a decorative band.
Let the Cookies Set:
Place the assembled Witch's Hat Cookies on a tray or platter and allow them to set. You can speed up the setting process by placing them in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes.
Serve: Once the chocolate has hardened, your homemade Witch's Hat Cookies are ready to serve and enjoy!
